Registration Rules

Unfortunately, the Covid-19 regulations are not consistent in Germany (i.e., they may be different from state to state and even from city to city) and have also been changed multiple times. Therefore, the rules we have to apply for RTSS in December cannot be stated with certainty at this point in time.

Based on the current discussion, the two most likely scenarios are called “2G” and “3G”. We want to briefly state the related rules here. They likely will also apply in other situations. “2G” means that people who are vaccinated against (“geimpft”) or have been recovered from (“genesen”) Covid-19 are allowed to participate, while “3G” in addition allows people who have recently tested negative to participate (“getested”).

According to the latest information from https://www.germany.info/us-en/covid-19/2321562

  • Travelers who received all the required doses of a COVID-19 vaccine cited on the website of the Paul Ehrlich Institute are considered fully vaccinated (Comirnaty is known in the U.S. as Pfizer). It must be at least 14 days since the last vaccine dose was administered.
  • Travelers who can prove they were previously infected with COVID through a positive PCR test, taken at least 28 days but no more than six months prior, and who show no relevant symptoms are considered to be fully recovered.

As we have to comply with state and city regulations, whether 2G and 3G rules apply may change shortly before the conference and is unfortunately not in our hands. Therefore, we urge participants to be fully vaccinated by December if they plan to attend RTSS. We note that proof of vaccination (or recovery) may not only be necessary to attend the conference but also to, for example, check into hotels or enter a restaurant. Furthermore, we note that tests usually are valid for 48 hours (i.e., multiple tests may be required) and are expected to cost approximately 20€ (25$).

When entering public transportation, grocery stores, restaurants, hotels, etc., a surgical mask or an FFP2 or FFP3 mask must be worn.

Rules for Author Information:

  1. Each accepted conference paper must be supported by the Author Registration of at least one of its authors. (At any applicable rate, including the student’s rate)
  2. Each accepted Work-in-Progress (WiP) paper must be supported by the Author Registration of at least one of its authors. (At any applicable rate, including the student’s rate)
  3. A single Author Registration may be used to support at most
    1. 2 conference papers and 1 Work-in-Progress (WiP) paper, OR
    2. 1 conference paper and 2 Work-in-Progress (WiP) papers.
  4. The cost of Author Registration is independent from online and physical participation, while each physical participation registration covers an author registration.
  5. Each accepted RTSS@work paper, Work-already-Published (WaP) paper, Hot Topics Day (HTD) paper/presentation, and Industrial Challenge must be supported either by the Author Registration or by the Full Conference Registration of at least one of its authors. The cost of Full Conference Registration is dependent upon the participation format.
